All the chests and cupboards, most of them at least, owe their place in the museum to the Justus Brinckmann collection. Brinckmann feared that the traditional farming culture of the Vierlande could fall victim to industrial progress. And so he drove his horse cart from house to house and chatted to the local farmers about their craftsmanship (and paid handsomely for it).
